Passport to Success: The Annual Enactus Fall Burn

One of Enactus’ biggest events at Graceland is happening in just a few weeks! This year, the annual Fall Burn’s theme is “Passport to Success.”

Enactus is one of the biggest and most successful groups at Graceland University. Whether you have heard of their success at international competitions or you simply love Midnight Munchies because of the discount food on Saturday nights, Enactus is important to many Graceland students. According to the international organization’s official website, “Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.” The organization encourages student leaders to create community empowerment projects around the globe, and through these projects, students gain the talent and perspective needed to operate in the business world.

It isn’t just the students involved in Enactus who get to learn these valuable skills. Fall Burn is an event specifically designed to challenge those who are and are not in Enactus to be successful and to have a bright future. All Enactus members are excited for this important event, but possibly the most excited is Tara Sheehy, co-project manager for the Enactus events team (Sydney Vaughn is also co-project manager). Tara says, “Fall Burn is aimed at giving students motivation for their future and tools to make them as successful as possible.”

Fall Burn will begin at 6:00pm in the Shaw Center with the keynote speaker, Jim Lysinger. After his speech, there will be refreshments and a variety of booths for students to visit in the Shaw Lobby. Each booth will offer information about a different topic needed for success. One example is the LinkedIn booth. LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site that helps business people make connections to find a job. Tara says that at the Fall Burn LinkedIn booth, “Students can get a professional picture taken as well as tips to set up your profile in the most marketable way.” Other booths will provide information about resumes, internships, interviews, and more! Tara says, “More information is available on our Facebook page and there will be updates on the Graceland Instagram as well, so keep your eye out!”

Fall Burn will take place in the Shaw Center on November 11, 2014, from 6:00-8:30 pm. The event is sure to be as successful as it’s students!
