This Weekend at the Coliseum: Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

This week’s feature attraction at the Lamoni Coliseum is Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) returns with his particular brand of justice in the highly anticipated sequel. When Army Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders), who heads Reacher’s old investigative unit, is arrested for treason, Reacher will stop at nothing to prove her innocence and to uncover the truth behind a major government conspiracy involving soldiers who are being killed. Directed by Edward Zwick (Glory, Legends of the Fall, The Siege, The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond, and Defiance) and based upon author Lee Child’s 18th novel of the same title in the best-selling Jack Reacher series that has seen 100 million books sold worldwide.

Critic Comments: “This is a superior and assured action movie, a quality product that makes the case for a franchise.” (San Francisco Chronicle) “Cruise finds the core of Reacher in his eyes, with a haunted gaze that says this lone wolf is still on a mission and still a long way from home. That’s the Reacher Lee Child created in his books. And Cruise does him proud.” (Rolling Stone) “When it comes down to it, Tom Cruise has made another solid and satisfying action-thriller, basically disproving the title film’s title that suggests he should have never gone back.” (New York Daily News) “Zwick’s direction is clean, clear, workmanlike action filmmaking, but the auteur is Cruise himself. The character is an ideal vessel for Cruise’s gifts as a movie star.” (Miami Herald) “This is a superior and assured action movie, a quality product that makes the case for a franchise.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm at the Coliseum Theater at 100 North Maple Street, Lamoni. Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, some bloody images, language and thematic elements. It runs for 118 minutes.
