‘Mavericks’ Art Show Open in the Helene

Beginning April 7th 2017 in the Helene Student Gallery at Graceland University there will be an art exhibition under the name of Mavericks. Mavericks is a senior show created by Rachel Norling. Rachel Norling is a senior Visual Communications student at Graceland University. With previous exhibitions being student exhibitions, this is Rachel first big show to display her semester’s work. Her inspiration for her upcoming exhibition comes from her time at the ocean. With the sun shining into the shades of blue in the ocean and the different texture to the sand on the beach, Rachel is designing surfboards based on her experiences and memories. Through her memories, Rachel is known for using patterns in her work. She loves color tones and strong lines in her works. The vibes that come with the ocean is what attracts Rachel to creating more work revolving around the water.

Rachel will be showing her surfboard designs starting April 10th, 2017 in the Helene Student Gallery at Graceland University. She wants everyone that sees her board designs to become inspired with what inspires them. “Sometimes in the waves of change, we find our true direction.” Mavericks reception is in the Helene Student Gallery April 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. Come for food, music and art!
